Let’s get one thing straight: You don’t have to be old, sick, or dramatic to plan for death. You just have to be human.

At TURN, we believe that preparing for death isn’t about fear or formality. It’s about freedom. So you don’t have to worry. So your loved ones don’t have to scramble. So when the time comes—whether in 40 years or next season—you’ve already said what needed to be said, done what needed to be done, and left behind clarity instead of chaos.

This guide won’t take long. But it could change everything.

Step 1: Say What You Want (Before You Can’t)

Start with the basics. Where do you want to go? What do you want to happen?

  • Burial or cremation?

  • A traditional ceremony or a natural one?

  • Ashes scattered, planted, kept at home, or returned to a specific place?

  • Favorite music? A quote? Something not religious? Something very much so?

Write it down. Or better yet—use our upcoming Exit Map, a guided tool to help you design your own farewell with peace and personality.

Step 2: Organize the Essentials

Even the most loving families can get lost in paperwork. So gather these now:

  • Your ID, passport, and personal documents

  • Will, medical directives, and organ donor status

  • Digital passwords and account access

  • Who to contact (and who not to)

These can live in your home, a secure cloud, or—soon—your TURN Legacy Box: a physical + digital system for keeping it all together, beautifully.

Step 3: Leave Some Soul Behind

You are not a checklist. You are memories, words, values, unfinished jokes.

That’s why we’re also introducing:

  • The Death Journal – a space for stories, messages, reflections, and thoughts you’ve never said aloud.

  • Farewell Letter Kit – guided prompts to write letters for the future. For partners. For kids. For yourself.

This isn’t just about closure. It’s about continuation.

Step 4: Choose How You Want to Be Remembered

This is where TURN’s flagship product comes in:🌱 The Burial Urn TURN – a sculptural, biodegradable urn designed to decompose in 3–6 months, nourishing the soil and supporting plant life.

You can:

  • Keep it at home for a while

  • Plant it with a tree or wildflowers

  • Pair it with our Memorial Growing Kit

  • Or use it in a natural cemetery or sanctuary forest

One object. Infinite ways to say goodbye.

💚 Available soon. More formats and kits launching soon.

Step 5: Tell Someone. Then Let It Go.

Here’s the real trick: once you’ve prepared, you get to forget about it.

Tell someone where your things are. Maybe send them a short note. Then go live. Travel. Rest. Create. Laugh. Plant a tree. Change your mind later if you want.

But know that when the time comes, the people you love will already have what they need—because you cared enough to prepare.

And that? That’s love.
